Description

Sumac is a wonderful aromatic spice which is incredibly popular in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking. It offers a delicious tangy and slightly citrusy, sweet flavour, which has been derived from the dried and crushed berries of the Rhus tree giving it, it's beautiful deep red colouring.

Seriously good spice. Fresh, fragrant, incredibly flavourful. Sprinkle on everything. Great on salads, as a sprinkle in a sandwich. Sprinkle over sliced tomatoes on toast. Great in dressings, sauces, vinaigrettes, dips, pesto. Good as flavouring through a Salsa. Good as a rub over fish, chicken. Frankly, it's good to enjoy by the spoonful. Nuts about life Sumac has been the best Sumac. Imagine trying the berries fresh that Sumac is made from.

Varying quality - but when it good it’s great!

Most times I order Sumac through NAL quality, taste and moistness are fantastic. Unfortunately the sumac quality does seem to vary, and on a couple f occasions it has been a little dry and lacking flavour. Perhaps as the batch gets older…? But when it is good, it really a good!! Recommend refrigerating to keep fresh longer.

Unfortunately a miss for me

I am Middle Eastern and eat Sumac all the time on everything. I usually get Golden Swan from coles it’s red fresh fluffy smells nice and tastes awesome but they are not stocking it anymore. So I came to this website, the sumac is dark colour dry strong smell and doesn’t taste nice at all for me. I donated mine and was a waste of money unfortunately but you might love it. Taste buds are different. Thanks
